You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it.

– Psalm 139

God has enclosed us behind. He cleans up the messes from the past.

He can redeem the damage we’ve done, the mistakes we’ve made, the sin we’ve committed. He is the Master of the past as well as the present and future. And he can rewrite, redeem, or restore anything He chooses.

God has enclosed you before. He is preparing a future for you. He has good things for you to do, to give, and to enjoy. He seems to delight in surprising His children. Who knows what the future may hold?

Is He preparing an easy road for you? Probably not. If you are seeking to live your life in a way that says “thank you” to Him, then you have a difficult road ahead. There will be trials. There will be tragedies. There will be rejection. There will be loneliness. There will be times of uncertainty. There will be pain.

But in His plan for you, there will also be purpose. In seeking Him, you will find a sense of satisfaction and belonging in what you do, and little joys and nuggets of encouragement along the way.

The gifts and talents you’ve been given will be put to use, and there will be people, moments, or experiences along the way that remind you that this is where you’re meant to be, and what you’re meant to do.

God has laid His hand upon you. He is with you in this moment. The present. There is nothing which is happening to you, going through your mind, or that you are doing right now that He does not see.

He’s got your back, in the here and now.
