Mike Gendron – Tell Catholics The Truth (if you watch none of the other videos below, watch this one!)

For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
Acts 20:27-30

“An appalling and horrible thing
Has happened in the land:
The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule on their own authority;
And My people love it so!
But what will you do at the end of it?
Jeremiah 5:30-31

But what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.
2 Corinthians 11:12-15

The bishops claim to be the successors of the original apostles.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
2 Peter 2:1-3
…in their greed they will exploit you with false words…
Mass cards, indulgences, the rosary.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himselfin whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I say this so that no one will delude you with persuasive argument.
Colossians 2:1-4

In Christ – not in Man – are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

No one can know this wisdom or knowledge unless they personally know Christ.

False church leaders and teachers who claim to have wisdom and knowledge will not delude with persuasive argument those who know the voice and wisdom of Christ and who are grounded in His Word more than “church” teaching or tradition.

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
Colossians 2:8-10

And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:

This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far away from Me.
But in vain do they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’

Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”

Mark 7:6-8

Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day—things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.

If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as,“Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

Colossians 2:16-23

As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith.

1 Timothy 1:3-4

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Matthew 7:13-15

The Roman Catholic Church is certainly the largest “church” worldwide. It is the broad way and the wide gate.

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

The RCC forbids marriage for priests.

(Also, note: abstaining from foods for medical reasons is different from considering the foods spiritually unclean.)

Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

Romans 16:17-18

O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge” which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith.

1 Timothy 6:20-21

The RCC relies heavily on Man’s “knowledge” and “reasoning” (church tradition and the words of the pope).

Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

Hebrews 13:9

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
Acts 17:11

These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
1 John 2:26-27

I have sometimes learned something from the Spirit (rather than from the internet or a theologian), only to soon hear the exact same message or confirmation from another believer.

This testifies to the fact that the Spirit speaks to us and teaches us individually, and His words to one of His true children will not contradict His words to another child.

Some churches twist this and say that since so many in “the church” have agreed on man-made traditions in the past, they must be right. This is a clever but deceitful twisting of the truth.

The workers of unrighteousness may just as easily agree on erroneous, deceptive teaching as those of the Spirit will agree on the truth.

The Word of God exposes deception for those who are willing to first test tradition by Scripture rather than seek to prove or justify tradition with Scripture.

Church tradition is not infallible.

Sometimes the Spirit and the written Word of God teach us something which is contrary to denominational church tradition or teaching but confirmed by the written Word of God as well as by our brothers and sisters in Christ who are walking closely with Him.

Scripture (the written Word) and the Spirit (the Word living inside us – which gives us discernment) are the checks and balances which expose erroneous extrabiblical church tradition or teaching – whether that teaching’s from fourth-century church leaders or the pope and bishops today.

Testing and examining our leaders or “apostles” by the Word of God is not a sin. It is our duty.

The Bereans were described as “noble” for testing the teaching of Paul, a true apostle who endured much for the gospel. Even Paul and his teaching were subject to scrutiny.

Do not allow your church leaders to scare you away from questioning church teaching.

It is not only okay to thoroughly examine your tradition and church teachings – it is right to do so. Hold everything in the light of God’s Word.

As hard as it would be to find that you’ve believed a lie or belonged to a false church system for much/all of your life, it’s much better to walk away now than to believe a false gospel for the rest of your life, and continue to sit under the authority of men who (wittingly or not) are hindering you from walking more closely with Christ.

We must cling to Christ, not our church system. If we seek His face and cry out desperately to Him for wisdom (not the bishop, priest, or an ancient theologian), He will surely lead us in His way.
